Ah, the internet. It can be so fun and frustrating for those with limited skills like me. Anyway, this is the post for June 6th.
We woke up in Boise pretty sore from the previous days beating but determined to press on and we went from the ridiculous of the day before, to the sublime. First, our route: We headed north from Boise on hwy 55 to 95 to Lewiston, then north on 195 to Spokane and then north on 395 to the little town of Coleville just south of the Canadian border. The road out of Boise was what every motorcyclist dreams of. Canyon road following a river, tight and twisty. Just superb. (See picture) Horseshoe Bend and Cascade were great little mountain towns with lots of personality and evan more water. McCall was a town I would like to go back and see when time allows, absolutely beautiful.
North of Lewiston was solid hay farms all the way to Spokane. I must have been a farmer in a former life because I love the sight and smell of crops growing. This has got to be the hay capital of America, very impressive.
Today was a great day to be on a motorcycle. The sights, smells and all senses were really cooking today. Spokane's rush hour was no fun, but the timing couldn't be helped. We needed to get some miles down to get our average of 500 miles a day. We need to do this to catch up to the rest of our group in Anchorage that left four days ahead of us. Today was about 550 miles and 12 hours in the saddle. Sounds terrible but the first two hours made it all worth while. Found some pretty good Mexican food in Coleville for dinner and that helped too. The next picture is a shot of my new bumper sticker. The lady at the motel printed it up for me and I bought some laminating material and voila': North to Alaska. Tomorrow-Canada, are they ready for us?
